The Dark Shadows
A poem, by Fọlábòmí Àmọ̀ó
I am too scared,
To step into the light,
And dance in the sun.
Maybe it’s the comfort,
I find in the shadows.
Or the darkness,
That finds a home inside.
The depths of my mind.
I hope one day,
I can get over my fright,
And find my way to the light.
But until that day comes,
You shall find me;
Lurking,
In the shadow of the dark.
